UK-Africa Health Summit 2025
Lucia Vambe was honoured to receive the Diaspora Healthcare Champion Award yesterday at the Royal College of Physicians in London. This prestigious award recognized her dedication, leadership, and contributions to global health as part of the UK-Africa Health Summit Global Health Partnership.

The award ceremony was opened by Lord Crisp, former Chief Executive of the NHS and Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health, setting the stage for an inspiring event. It was a proud moment for Lucia to receive this award in the presence of Dr. Maunganidze (Zimbabwe’s Permanent Secretary of Health), Dr. Pasi (Permanent Secretary of the Health Service Commission), officials from the British Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe’s Deputy Ambassador to London, Mr. Levi Mukono, as well as colleagues from Zimbabwe Life Project (ZLP), including Oliver Hwindingwi, Kelvin Ncube (University of Essex), and Dr. Kuda Dimbi (East London NHS Trust).

The summit was an incredible experience—both inspiring and motivational—with a wealth of knowledge to take away. Lucia had the privilege of speaking in both the morning and afternoon sessions, where she shared the platform with exceptional speakers, including NHS health leaders, the British Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Pete Vowles, Primrose Magala, and many others.

The summit was officially opened by Hon. Kambuzi Kandodo Chiponda, Malawi’s Minister of Health, Lord John Humphrey, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner to Africa, and Lorraine Sunduza OBE, CEO of East London NHS Trust. It was a day of enlightenment, bringing together brilliant minds from across the healthcare sector to collaborate and share insights.
